Bring Your Own Baby – Comedy
As many of you might not know, I had the blessing of having my little girl last March – Maisie. With being on maternity, it can be hard to plan things to do with your little one and as much as you can enjoy baby classes and sensory fun – you think what can be good for me too? Well, best buddies and professional comedians Carly Smallman and Alyssa Kyria have created something for the mums, that the little tots can come along too!
Bring Your Own Baby Comedy, is a baby friendly comedy club which welcomes mums, dads and their babies (up until 15 months) to come along and enjoy a good laugh that we all greatly deserve!
I didn’t know what to expect from todays viewing, but having received amazing reviews and been recommended ITV, BBC and many others – I knew I was in for a treat! The set up was perfect with chairs and baby mats laid out to support, they had two changing stations – which meant that we didn’t miss anything, which was great. And last but not least we were right by the bar (yes, a cheeky day drink is welcome if you fancy) and restaurant was open with a great choice of lunch options for us to enjoy at the show – which starting at 12 noon was very much welcome and yummy.
It all felt very well planned and not manic at all – babies were able to crawl, lie, enjoy tummy time while parents could enjoy some cheeky jokes and they are age appropriate for the parents, as like some cheeky jokes in panto – it goes right over your little ones heads! It was just great to have some adult fun, but yet share it with my daughter but also take her to my favourite place – a theatre!! Yes, this was very different and she was welcome to explore and play with the other children but it’s a great intro for her. The club itself runs for 90 mins with a small ten min interval in the middle, doors open at 11:30 to allow you to settle and get the babies comfy. Each comedian had around a half hour set, perfect timing as it was not too long, but jam packed with laughs and defiantly tuckered my Maisie out – what’s not to love!
The comedians today were, creator Carly Smallman, Stefano Paolini, and Laura Smyth. All of whom were not phased by the little pitter patter of feet and tiny eyes staring at them, they treated it as a usual comedy night so the parents could enjoy! Carly warmed up the crowd before the other two comics took to the mic and got all the parents giggling! Laura shared light on her personal life and events which provided many laughs and Stefano stepped up with some impressive impressions and comedy in all languages! They were all great entertainment and gave us parents a great afternoon.
I’d like to thank Bring Your Own Baby Comedy, for welcoming me to come along and enjoy a different mummy daughter afternoon! I’d only wish I had gone to one sooner in my maternity as it would have been a monthly highlight! That’s right, they do these monthly – such a fool I was. I highly recommend any mums or new mums that are starting on maternity to go and enjoy a cheeky parent oriented ‘baby club’ you will have an amazing afternoon and a tuckered out little one!
