‘Find the Colours of the Rainbow’ – Cbeebies Rainbow Adventure, Westfields Shepherds Bush, London. 15.08.2024

With summer holidays in full swing, its great to see so many things that kids can do during this time. My friends messaged me a few months back showing me this immersive experience that was being held at Westfields in London – at first i was like a theatre show in a shopping centre, how? But boy was I happy I accepted the invite, as it would be the first time that Maisie would be traveling to London as well as continuing to introduce her to my love of Theatre!

Our Journey was very exciting for Maisie, being her first time on a train and after finishing off on the London Overground, we were heading to Westfields safe and sound! A quick refuel at Bills – Kids currently eat free with a full paying adult BARGIN! Then straight to Cbeebies Rainbow Adventue, situated right next to Next!

I had only caught a small glimpse of what would be in store, but came in not knowing what to fully expect after all this was fully for Maisie – but I also am one to get involved! The basis of the story is you meet a Rainbow Gardener fresh on his 1st day on the job – they tell you all about the colours of the rainbow and how it is formed with the Sun and the rain clouds playing. Unusally the Sun and rain get a bit too excited and get lost in play, the kids job is now to collect the colours of the rainbow to return it to the sky where it belongs.

With the help from our Cbeebies friends, Mr Tumble, JoJo and Gran Gran, Duggee, and Bluey, Maisie and others were given fun tasks in each of the Cbeebies rooms, from cleaning, and shopping to dancing and magic Xylophones each were perfectly themed and kept the kids entertained throughout. Maisie nearly being 2 and a half, I was unsure as to how she was going to be, but she was fully involved in each room and followed each story – I felt a personal favourite for her was Duggee’s room where she thoroughly enjoyed chasing Duggee as he appeared at the window and enjoyed dancing to his classics such as ‘The Stick Song’ – mum included!

I don’t want to give too much away, but this was a great way to introduce your kids to theatre especially with so many characters they know and love, the Rainbow gardeners were enthusiastic and engaging which allowed the kids to trust and like them as soon as they walked into the room. Adults, you are not left out as you are encouraged to enjoy a dance and be ready for Bluey’s room – got to love those magic xylophones! I was also the honouree door closer, so felt very important! But because they were so engaging it also allows you to stand back and watch your children enjoy, giving you memories that will stay for years to come! On leaving, they even get a chance to meet one of their Cbeebies friends, we had the chance to meet Bluey and although Maisie wasn’t too keen on saying hello – she is a lot bigger in person haha, we got the chance to have a photo to remember the day! I think you also sometimes get the chance to meet Duggee too on some show endings.

All in all, the expeariance lasted around 55 min but flew by with how much fun they were all having and just long enough to keep everyone fully engaged. Running at Westfields until Sunday 3rd November, I highly recommend purchasing tickets for your little ones, they even have relaxed performances!
